Yes, Cash App works with Apple Pay. The verifying has a little more to it. Apple is is not a bank and doesn’t require ID verification.,
Apple and Apple Pay services do not require identification for the services. Apple is not a bank. The US government requires all US banks to verify the identity of all their account owners. Latest laws went into effect after 9/11 and it’s part of the Patriot Act. I’ll post more on that at the bottom of this post.
Cash App is run by Square/Block and they are called a FinTech (Financial Technology) and are not banks. Cash App partners with Sutton Bank to offer banking services and they fall under the same banking regulations requiring identity verification.
You’ll need to ask the support team at Cash App about exactly when you’ll be required to provide positive identification.
Why is positive ID required?
The Patriot Act requires that lenders, banks etc obtain a confirmed ID.
“To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. What this means for you: When you open an account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth, and other information that will allow us to identify you. We may also ask to see your driver's license or other identifying documents.”
