Trackpad seems to “drift” after a period of use

Start my MacBook Prom Max M1 and all is well. Sometimes, after hours of use, scrolling is like, buffering. It is delayed and then catches up. As I continue working I drag a document in a window and it is delayed response as well and I can let go and it catches up. Quite annoying. After a restart all is well again. Not sure what is going on.
