New Finder windows always appear behind other apps.

When I open a new Finder window — either via Command-N or the File menu — the window will always open behind all of my other apps. The only way to bring it to the front is to click the Finder icon in the Dock. Even then, if I have a Finder window visible and open another one, the other one opens behind my other open apps, and I need to bring it to the front. Sometimes after switching between the Finder and another app, the Finder will behave normally, but it's not consistent.

Is anyone else seeing this? I feel like it's only since updating to 15.3.1 that I'm noticing it.

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 15.3

if you have more than one Desktop—

Control click on the Finder icon>Options>None and compare your results

no insight or resolve— for anomalies like "sometimes..."

A SafeBoot Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled temporarily.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and compare your results. Caches get rebuilt automatically.
