Apple Watch Series 10 set up issue with two-factor authentication

I have purchased an Apple watch series 10 and it won't complete setup as it continually indicates "This feature requires two-factor authentication. The Apple Account "xxxxxxxx" does not support two-factor authentication" If I go into settings I have two-factor authentication set up and needed it to log on into this forum
