How do I delete Maps Data and free up storage space on iPhone?

Maps "Documents & Data" still using 5.63 GB even after I deleted the app. I have deleted the Maps app to try to free up storage, but it still shows "Documents & Data" as using 5.63 GB. My phone inexplicably went from having ~7 GB free to being completely full overnight. A seemingly bizarre suggestion on Reddit was to go into airplane mode and manually set the date forward on the phone by a year and then after an hour again allow it to set the date automatically. This actually did free up 6 GB, but I'm not sure where it came from--the Maps "Documents & Data" still shows the same 5.63 GB. I would really like to have that extra storage--how do I delete all the Maps documents and data?

Maps App taking up 23 gb of storage?! I have 125 gb out of 128 gb on my phone right now, and I can't figure out why my Maps app is taking up 23gb?!! I tried deleting the app, and it just offloads on its own so I'm pretty sure the documents and data isn't off my phone right now, which is what is taking up my storage besides my photos 😅. I haven't been able to update to iOS 18, as i'm still in iOS 17 due to no storage. Please help me figure out why and how to get rid of this unnecessary storage!!

How do I delete Apple Maps data to free up storage on my iPhone? i am completely out of storage and over half of it is from apple maps. which i don’t even have downloaded on my phone anymore. i don’t know how to get rid of all the data that’s on there [Re-Titled by Moderator]

Why do you say you can't delete? The Maps app can be deleted. I'm thinking you removed the app. But if delete the app, the data in the app will be deleted. Did you just remove the app? If yes, reinstall it. Then press on the app, choose remove, then delete and you'll see a notification that deleting the app will remove the data.
