Where are Outlook folders when using Apple Mail?

I have been forced over the past months to use Apple Mail to access my Outlook Email. How do I find/open/import/access Outlook folders containing stored emails from Apple Mail?

I can send/save a received email to a folder but I see nowhere to open that email once it has been placed in a folder. I see nowhere to create a new folder or delete one. I tried the import Mailbox feature that leads to Finder but Outlook folders are not there or maybe I'm not looking in the right place.

Thank you.

MacBook Air, macOS 15.3

  1. Why are you forced to use Apple Mail?
    1. Outlook is available for Mac. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/microsoft-outlook/id985367838?mt=12
    2. You can access your email at https://outlook.com
  2. In the Mail App, to create a new mailbox / folder right click or control+click or 2 finger click(trackpad and magic mouse) on the Inbox label on the side bar and select new Mailbox. click here ➜ Create or delete mailboxes in Mail on Mac - Apple Support
  3. All Mailboxes / folders for a specific account should be visible under the specific account heading on the side bar of the Mail app. click here ➜ Mail User Guide for Mac - Apple Support
  4. If the heading is collapsed, hovering over the account name should reveal a small chevron " > " next to it you can then click to expand it.

Outlook crashes daily forcing me to use Apple Mail to access my Outlook email. This started a few months ago. I am told using Chrome as opposed to Safari would access Outlook fine. I prefer Safari. When I use Apple Mail to access Outlook email it is a sparse screen with no obvious way to access email folders except for placing an email into a folder.

Make sure the side bar is set to be shown, by going to the View menu at the top and clicking on Show Sidebar.

Outside of that, not entirely sure what you mean by a "sparse screen".

Also, what exactly is crashing? The Outlook website in Safari or the actual Outlook app? Those are 2 different things.

Also, I have no issue accessing Outlook.com on Safari.

If you have antivirus apps or ad blockers you may want to disable those as they can cause issues with websites.

What I mean by sparse in Apple Mail is the sidebar shows only unread and unmoved emails. I have no access to go to other folders like deleted, sent, etc. The top tool bar is greyed out until I select an email and when it is available there are fewer choices including no access to folders.

Outlook has been crashing for two months daily. Either upon opening it or opening an email a message comes that is Outlook not available, retry. Retry never works. Sometimes Outlook works, sometimes not...daily. This does not happen on my iPad nor my other devices, only the MacBook/Safari.

I have no ad blockers on this MacBook, I turned off Safari's anti tracking, cleared caches, and still Outlook is intermittently unavailable, yet only on this device, not others with Ad blockers etc.

This forces me to use Apple Mail for Outlook which does not have access to my folders that I can find.
