iPhone 13 new behavior on Safari.

Suddenly, my safari app has begun using face recognition every time I leave it idle for a split second. I decided to delete it to reinstall again. However one cannot uninstall safari from iPhone! Anyone else coming across that? When you hold down the Safari app to obtain the menu, turn off face recognition it fails to respond. Why??????

Sounds like you have private browsing enabled in Safari.

If you’re in a private browsing session, it will require faceid to open the page. That’s to protect your privacy.

Tap the boxes in the lower left corner.

Look at the bottom. You should see 2 options, “Private” and “X Tabs” where X is the number of non-private tabs you have open. If private is hi-lighted, you’re in private browsing. Tap the other option to return to “normal” browsing.
