Epson Scanner Error Fix! 🎉
To those of you with older Epson TWAIN scanners that were having trouble when you tried to scan, and where Image Capture was giving you the dreaded “scanner not detected” and “error -21345” , this is what fixed this issue for me.
Open the scanner top. Inside the scanner, under the scanner glass to the lower right side you’ll see a pulley.
There’s supposed to be a piece of plastic on either side to hold that pulley down. In my case, the two pieces of plastic that held it down, one of them had broken, and the pulley had lifted up on one side so the scanner wouldn’t work and I kept getting those errors. Thinking it was the software not the scanner. When nothing on the computer was working, I looked inside the scanner to find the pulley lopsided.
I ended up putting a screw through one side to hold it down and it fixed it. The drivers I downloaded and the software worked instantly once I fixed this.
You can see what I’m speaking of in this video. He drills a screw straight through the metal plate.
I just put a small screw to the side of it to hold it down, where the plastic used to be. Just wanted to share this in case anyone else is running into this issue.
This is a visual of what I’m referring to:

Hope this helps someone!
This saved me from buying an entirely new scanner.
