It happened out of no where and they told me to pay them or they ruin my life

Your phone was not "hacked".
It's a scam. Ignore it and move on.

Did you get the “hey pervert” or similar other claim that your iPhone was hacked, and compromising pictures and videos?
Maybe including a picture of your residence from Google Street View, or such?
Because those are just ordinary scams.
Not hacks.
No malware, either.
Some creative fiction writing, filled with falsity, and mass-spammed in search of free cash.
Any Web site can display a scam message from criminals that says something like that.
What makes you think that your iPhone actually is “hacked?”

Your device was not hacked. That is virtually impossible. What makes you think that you’ve been hacked?
And if they told you that an airplane was going to crash on your home tomorrow, would you believe them?
Why would you believe them if they told you that they are going to ruin your life?
