Why is Reddit consistently the #1 hit on all Google searches in Safari?

a few days ago, i noticed that reddit was consistently the #1 hit on all my google search results made thru safari on both my iphone 14 and my macbook air. i had recently downloaded the reddit app, so i thought that was the culprit, and deleted it, but that didn't work..then i deleted all my website data--ditto--then added one blocker -- ditto. it is really getting on my nerves and am out of ideas.

It is not just you. Google has an agreement with Reddit to prioritize their search results over others in exchange to allow Google to train their AI models on Reddit content.

Truly the most direct solution is to change your Search Engine to something else like DuckDuckGo. I understand you have tried and didn't like them, bur frankly the search results that Google chooses to show you are in their best interest, not yours.

i deleted my account, logged out of my devices, and logged back in, deleted website data, history--but not sure what you mean by "disconnecting" my google account--if you mean signing out, i did that too. i RARELY ever bother reading what reddit has to say about anything--i might have posted something years ago, so i cant make sense of why--out of nowhere it is always first in internet searches on both my iphone and my macbook air--after doing all i listed above and still having the same issue really bugs me--because i don't like deleting my history when recently i have been relying on it for things ive been researching and wanted to keep it for a while until i was finished. i cant think of any logical reason that this just came out of nowhere, but now im really angry about not being able to fix it....surely there has to be a way to stop it--it now feels like im being harassed. i went onto google and looked for answers, and have dumped google many times before for a variety of reasons, but i keep caving because i didnt like any of its competitors.

surely there has to be a way to stop this--now it makes me cringe to see my search results--or go online at all because it definitely is getting to me....what really got me was the fact that when i specifically named them in my many searches of how to have them cease and desist, reddit was offering suggestions from others on the very same topic.

HELP!!

i welcome any and all suggestions--thanks in advance
