No option to turn off autoscrolling on iPhone Photo app.

The autoscrolling of pictures any time I open the Photo app is maddening and I want to turn it off. I've seen a previous question about this and the answer was to select an album/collection, click on the 3 dot icon at the top right corner, and tap "Hide Preview". I have no such option. All I see is "Search" and "Show Map". I just want the autoscrolling to stop.

You're right-- it's not there. I think it might have been there once, but now you turn off the preview movie by going to the Sort menu at the bottom, and choosing View Options

and then unchecking "Movie Preview."
