How do I get back lost search bar in Safari on MacBook Air?

my new macbook air seems to not have a separate google search bar. how do i get this back

Search in Safari uses the same field as the website address (URL). It is at the top center of the window.

See below:


You can choose which search engine (e.g., Google) you prefer by going to the Safari menu > Settings > Search (at the top of the Settings window)

There is no separate google search bar, never has been, but from the context of your question it appears there used to be something you had been accustomed to seeing, and it is now gone. Is that correct?


Did it appear similar to FoxFifth's screenshot, this one?



Because that's the only "search bar" Safari has ever had. It is called the "Smart Search field".


If it no longer appears for you, use Safari's View menu > Customize Toolbar and drag it back to where you want it.


Or, just drag the default set into the Toolbar.
