Unable to complete Hearing Test using AirPods Pro

Attempting to take hearing test to use hearing aid feature on AirPods. Unable to make it past the Check Fit and Adjustment step. Both pods show the X Needs Adjustment. I've changed all the tips and position multiple times and each side continues to show need for adjustment. What am I doing wrong? Is there a way to bypass this step?

Could it be your environment ?

Apple Support's video below may or may not be helpful:

ie:says that If your environment (or AirPods Fit) changes during the fit test then you might get that notification. You may jjust need to be in a quieter environment.

Else:If you haven't browsed this article already:

See how to: Choose your AirPods Pro ear tips and use the Ear Tip Fit Test - Apple Support for tips.

Is there a way to bypass this step?

Sorry, if there is, i don't know of any way. It is part of finding out whether hearing loss is mild to moderate.

Seems if serious hearing loss is detected, then AirPods Pro Hearing Feature can not help.

Sorry that I can not anticipate what the result of your Apple Hearing Test may be, whatever the results of other hearing-tests have shown. Seems only those with mild to moderate hearing loss will be eligible to use the new features.

Re: If the function is disabled by the test, they are of limited use to me.

Wondering if you realise AirPods already had helpful hearing settings (that did not require regulatory approval} available before the newest test and feature, and these can still be used with or without the new hearing-health feature: For example:

"Conversation Boost focuses your AirPods Pro on the person who's talking in front of you. This makes it easier to hear when you're talking face to face."

Eg: From an earlier article mentions a few:

Apple Hearing Study shares new insights on hearing health - Apple

says:

  • "Use Apple devices to hear more clearly: AirPods, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max can help hearing in loud places with Live Listen, which enables iPhone to function as a directional microphone. In addition, Transparency mode on AirPods Pro or AirPods Max can let outside sound in, so users can hear what’s going on around them.
  • Set up Headphone Accommodations to make sound more crisp and clear..."

I already know I have moderate to severe hearing loss. I bought the AirPods to use as a stopgap while my regular hearing aids are repaired. I need to know if the hearing aid function will work at all if severe loss is determined by the test. If it won't work, I'll return them for a refund. I don't expect AirPods to work as well as my hearing aids, but if the function is disabled by the test, they are of limited use to me.
