How do I force quit Preview app on my Mac?
When I open a document or a photo on my Mac it opens in Preview App, but after closing the window the application does not quit. I am using OS version: 15.3.1 (24D70)

Preview doesn't close when you close the documents. You can quit in the following ways:
With the Preview menu bar still showing hit cmd-q or click on "Preview" and hit Quit Preview
Right-click on Preview in the dock and hit Quit
cmd-option-esc then select Preview and force quit.

Just to add, applications that can only have one window open at a time may quit when you click the red close button. It's best to press Command+Q or chose "Quit <app's name>" from an application's menu. Then you don't have to remember which ones will quit and which don't.
Hello michalmcode,
The Preview app will quit automatically when you select another application (or application window). You could also use the keyboard shortcut command + Q to quit the app.
Just to add, Preview does not quit if you just close the window.
There are some Apple applications that Do Totally Quit when using the Red - Orange - Green buttons on top Left of the application window.
Reminder, Contacts, Photos and some others Do Quit Totally
Though, Mail, Safari, Preview, Messages Calendar and others Do Not
If you use the Dock
If you look very closely at say Preview in the Dock
You would see
Both the icon of Preview appearing in the dock AND a small Black Dot beneath it
Meaning, the application is still running even if the Preview Window is closed

This doesn't answer the OP's question which is not a problem related to the version of OS.
If you believe that withholding this information is inappropriate

By all means, pursue this through the appropriate channels
I think it was, similar to the Reminders App
