Adding Money to Account without an on file Card

What would happen if you added funds to your account without a credit card on file? Would it even go though, or just bill you and prompt adding your card later? I’ve just been redeeming iTunes gift cards to utilize the App Store.

Is the Apple Gift Card only usable at Apple Store? To have a physical apple account card or not to have! I have an Apple an account with my money in it but I cannot use the money elsewhere when I need it. The other day, I had no lunch money and was really hungry. I had more than lunch money in my apple account but I had to stave regardless. Is this some kind of store card? Only valid in Apple Store? [Re-Titled by Moderator]
