Dock disappears and won't stay visible on Mac mini running macOS Sequoia 15.3.1

The dock won't stay visible. It is only visible when I move the cursor to the bottom of the screen. I have "Automatically hide and show the Dock" disabled.

When this occurs I can temporarily fix the problem (i.e. get the dock to stay visible even if I move the cursor away from the bottom of the screen) by

1) Launch settings

2) enable Automatically Hide and show the dock

3) exit Settings

4) relaunch Settings

5) disable Automatically Hide and show the dock

6) exit settings

The dock will stay visible for an as yet unpredictable amount of time and then revert to disappearing again unless the cursor is at the bottom of the screen.

The unpredictable amount of time varies from hours to a day, but as yet not longer.

This problem is very recent, first noticed in the last couple of days. I am currently running Sequoia 15.3.1 on a mac mini M1.

I suspect that some sequence of actions and/or an app is causing this but I have yet to be able to figure out what yet.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, is anyone else seeing this?

A SafeBoot Start up your Mac in safe mode - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled temporarily.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

Follow previous advise, First

Terminal command to " kill the dock " which should auto relaunch the dock

 killall Dock

FYI - running both the M4 and the M2 Mac Mini machines with Sequoia 15.3.1

Dock setting are OFF and stays in place all the time

Remove any of the following as none of them are needed and cause more harm than good (If Applicable on this machine)

Third Party Security Software, Third Party Disk Cleaners / Optimizer, Commercial VPNs

They may not be what one believes they are doing for the computer and what they actually are doing behind the scenes

I think you hit on it. For some reason the dock was hiding permanently after I zoomed at full screen, but not until the computer slept and then I woke it up again.

Also FWIW hitting opt-cmd-D worked better than going into Settings. certainly faster, but also now that I've done that, i.e. hit opt-cmd-D, it is not longer hiding after I expand an app to full screen.

weird problem. We may never know what caused it, but at least it seems to be gone.

thanks to all for posting. sorry I didn't reply more quickly.
