How to recover photos and videos from an iPhone with a forgotten passcode?

I forgot the four digit passcode for my old iPhone. I am worried if I keep trying the wrong code too many times the phone will be disabled. I have many pictures and videos I do not want to lose from that phone and unfortunately they are not backed up. Is there anything I can do??

The passcode is the decryption key for the data. It’s not stored anywhere. No passcode, no decryption, no data.

If the photos are not backed up elsewhere — as part of a device backup to iCloud or to a local PC or Mac, or if iCloud Photos was enabled for the iPhone, or if the photos were copied elsewhere manually — then your only option is remembering the passcode.

You cannot trigger a new backup without unlocking the iPhone, either.

And while you can reset the passcode, that resets the iPhone contents.

Apple can’t assist with regaining access to the data, as Apple doesn’t have the passcode.

Backups are the only way to mark data as being valuable.

Unfortunately, too many of us learn the lesson about the necessity of backups by losing our data.

Troubleshooting a Locked iPhone:

Seems you have a locked iPhone. So, contact Apple Support. Refer to the following...

Hold It Right There!:

Enter the passcode incorrectly too many times, and you'd likely be locked out for good. So, hold it right there, and refer to this link: If you Forgot the Passcode on your iPad, or your iPad is Disabled - Apple Support. It would be the one you've always entered. If you do not know it, then look for it in a location you may have stored it in.

Being Locked Out...

Have any Proof of Purchase?

Unless you have the original packaging and receipt, you may be out of luck. If you do have it, however, then take this to an Apple Store, or an AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider)! and they may be able to restore it. The reason for this blockage is all about Security & Privacy.
