Mouse left click acting like CMD is pressed..

OS 15.3.1

I've now had this happen three times, so it's "thing".

Only restarting fixes it that I've seen.

All of a sudden, the mac acts like CMD key is pressed when clicking the mouse. So links in the browser open in a new tab. Or selecting begins to choose multiple items.

Unplugging the mouse and/or keyboard doesn't fix things. unplugging the hub I plug the mouse/keyboard into it doesn't fix it.

So far, just restarting the mac seems to do it.

Has anyone seen this problem? Anyone solved it?

I do have USB Overdrive installed (in trial mode). I've not tried messing with it when this happens (it only just occurred to me as I was typing this up).

If it is a third party device issue— search the developers website or contact their: Support/Help/FAQ/Known issues/compatibility/firmware update…

I am unclear if this is an Apple mouse/magic mouse ?

Did you look at your System Settings>Keyboard / mouse and make some changes

Mouse settings on Mac

Magic Mouse

Thanks for the reply.

It's a generic 3rd party mouse, but nothing with the mouse itself.

My current thought is it's all basicly user error.

A spare Bluetooth keyboard that I thought was off got turned on....while there wasn't a keypress when I found it, it likely had had a keypressed causing the issue. It's currently off and stowed with batteries out. IF the problem doesn't happen again, I'll accept that was the issue.
