Blank messages keep appearing in Mail app on MacBook Pro

When I open the Mail app, a completely blank message appears that cannot be closed. If the Mail app remains open, new blank messages keep appearing.

However, if I close the app, everything shuts down.

The email functionality itself is working fine.

Has this ever happened to you? What can I do? Should I install an antivirus?
