Why won't the software update button open on my iPhone 6s?

When I try opening my software button to update the software, it doesn’t open and get stuck

You can update an iPhone 6s to the latest release of iOS 15 – currently iOS 15.8.3.

You cannot update an iPhone 6s to iOS 16 or later. If you are already running the latest release of iOS 15, your iPhone 6s will tell you that iOS is up to date, and will not offer further updates.
