When your iPhone’s battery health reaches 79% or below, it means the battery’s capacity to hold a charge has significantly diminished. However, a battery replacement is only necessary if certain issues start to affect your daily usage and experience.

These issues may include:

  • Sluggish Performance: If your iPhone feels slow, apps take longer to open, scrolling lags, or the overall system response becomes inconsistent, it could be due to battery health impacting performance management.
  • Unexpected Shutdowns: If your iPhone powers off suddenly even when there’s charge remaining, the battery may no longer be able to supply the power needed for more demanding tasks.
  • Display or Touch Issues: In some cases, a deteriorating battery can cause swelling, which might affect the physical display — like lifting the screen or creating pressure points — and could also lead to touch sensitivity problems.
  • High Usage and Stress: If you rely heavily on your iPhone for work, communication, or other daily activities, any decline in performance, shorter battery life, or device instability could disrupt your routine and productivity, making a battery replacement more urgent.

If your iPhone’s battery health is low but you aren’t seeing any of these issues, you may not need to replace the battery immediately. However, if you do start noticing performance drops or unexpected behavior, it’s worth considering a replacement to avoid further inconvenience.

Apple recommends you replace your iPhone battery when it hits 80% battery health or below, so you are now overdue. You can get the battery replaced at your nearest Apple Store’s Genius Bar or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Be sure to call the Service Center beforehand and make sure they have your iPhone model’s battery in stock. The battery replacement should take around an hour, but if the technician is working on something, they will finish their task first then replace your battery, which can take around a few hours.
