Merging multiple ITunes libraries

Hi all. I have an old ITunes library from a 2005 iMac backed up on a LaCie Drive. I also have the media files backed up on a thumb drive.

I need to move the old library songs over to a 2015 MacBook Pro running Monterrey 12.7.6. There is currently an existing library on the MacBook from an iPhone XR.

My goal is to merge the old library into the new library without a calamity.

On the LaCie drive there are 3 peoples iTunes libraries each under their own names In drives file menu.

Im no expert on this stuff so be gentle lol. Thanks in advance.

First, make sure your system is backed up :)

Secondly, you should just be able to open Music.app on your MacBook Pro, then use File -> Import...

Then navigate to the external LaCie drive and find the iTunes Music Library (you may need to repeat this for each separate account).

There are lots of gotchas, though, especially with the differences between iTunes in 2005 and Music in 2025, but this would be where I'd start.
