Cannot send new apple email message on Macbook

I can receive email from my iOS on my MacBook and can reply to it from the MacBook, but I cannot send newly created messages from my MacBook. New messages do not even appear in my "sent messages" folder.

Hi,

If you can't send an email on your MacBook, you can try these steps:

  • Check your internet connection: Make sure your Mac is connected to the internet.
  • Check your email account settings: Confirm that your email address, password, and other settings are correct.
  • Check your email provider's status: See if your email provider is experiencing an outage.
  • Check your storage quota: Make sure you haven't exceeded your email provider's storage limit.
  • Check your outgoing mail settings: Confirm that your outgoing mail server (SMTP) settings are correct.
  • Restart your email account: Remove and then re-add your email account in Mail.
  • Check your email service provider's documentation: Contact your email provider for help configuring your account.

You can also check for status messages in the Mail sidebar or top right-hand corner of the Mail window. A status icon, such as a lightning bolt or warning symbol, may indicate a problem.

If you're using iCloud Mail, you can also:

  • Check that iCloud Mail is turned on
  • Make sure you haven't exceeded your iCloud storage limit
  • Use the latest version of software on your device
