iphone stuck and doesn’t respond after new update. Can’t slide up/ down or even force shutdown as “slide to power off” : nothing happens / can’t slide and x for cancel doesn’t work either.

This may sound unintuitive, but try a Forced Restart on the phone. This is the first thing that an Apple technician will do if you have taken the phone in for service.

Follow the instructions very carefully, as this is a bit tricky. (Hint.....ignore the "slider" when it appears and keep holding the Side button in until the Apple logo appears, then release the Side button. This might take another 15-20 seconds or so.)
