Can someone tell me why when I watch a video that I’ve taken in cinematic mode, while in my camera roll, it’s starts nice and bright and then get dull and gray? It’s such a bummer. Something is changing it and I don’t want it to happen. Any help would be great. Thank you.

Are you shooting Cinematic mode in HDR? If so, turn off HDR at this path,
iPhone > Settings > Camera > Record Video > scroll down > HDR Video > Off,
Another setting you can try is at this path,
iPhone > Settings > Camera > Record Video > scroll down > Lock White Balance > On
I’ll reach out to a couple friends the do a lot of editing and see if they have any ideas. Please post back after you’ve tried those settings.

It’s not really color, it exposure. The camera is adjusting the exposure. By darkening the scene, the colors become less bright and more saturated.
All the scenes seem to have a camera move (pan, tilt) or you’re zooming. You don’t have to share it, but what happens if you just hold the shot for 5 seconds (no zoom and no moves)?
Do you have White Balance locked in Camera settings? It could be Auto Exposure as well.

Ok thank you. I will try this tomorrow and report back. I looked at the settings and it doesn’t look like I can turn off HDR specifically for cinematic recording, so I’m assuming it will turn it off for cinamatic and normal video. I do see “HDR” in the upper left when I record normal video. But, I’ll turn off HDR and try recording in cinematic tomorrow after work. Thank you so much for the help.

You can see how the color changes shortly after the clip starts playing. This is me switching between clips in my camera roll.
In those videos I’m panning, but no zoom. I just made a 5 second video with no movement or zooming. Unfortunately it still makes that change. I wish it didn’t. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.
I don’t think it’s a camera error. Im really leaning towards a setting.

Hello again. I made a video in cinamatic and didn’t move or focus. When I watched in my camera roll, same thing. You can see that change. I also shut off HDR and tried again, same result.
