Background Noise on Bluetooth Calls

I bought a new car in September and I have noticed a LOT of background noise (whooshing) during phone calls, specifically when the person on the other end is not speaking. It is as though the microphone is searching for sound and increases sensitivity when it doesn't find it. It has led to some pretty bumpy attempts at a conversation. Anyway, I recently made a change that I think might have remedied the situation, and I wanted to share. In the phone settings, I changed the device type from "car stereo" to "speaker." I am not too sure what changes resulted, but I would assume they would be microphone related. So far, it seems to have fixed it. I will check back in to report if it is consistently effective. Has anyone else experienced this?

Bluetooth interference can potentially cause connectivity issues due to the disruption of the wireless communication between devices. Bluetooth operates in the 2.4 GHz frequency range, which is also used by various other devices such as Wi-Fi routers, microwaves, cordless phones, and even some baby monitors. When multiple devices are operating nearby and using the same frequency band, interference can occur.
