Scrolling with trackpad/ mouse

My MacBook trackpad and [logi] mouse scroll the opposite way than it's supposed to, which is fine, because I can turn that setting off. The problem is it turning back on at random every few minutes or when I close it and it drives me insane. Plus, I always need to keep the settings app open because that ALSO turns it off. Additionally, sometimes shows that it is already off when it isn't and so I have to "turn it on" when I'm actually turning it off (I know that description sounds confusing but that's because it is) I hate it so much and makes it practically unusable, is there anything I can do to fix it or am I stuck with this "feature" for as long as I have this computer (which I hope isn't very long, among this there are many other problems)? I literally just made an account to complain about this because I couldn't find anything on it.
