I was having this same issue and just fixed it! Do you have Xcode on your computer? I had removed Xcode, because I was trying to free up space, and because I never used it, I didn't think it was needed. However, many of my files use Xcode; once I deleted it, there was no longer a way for me to access those files.

I redownloaded Xcode from the App Store and once it was downloaded, it installed a lot of extensions on other programs across the computer. I restarted my computer and when I logged on, all of my previously inaccessible documents were accessible again!

I hope this helps!
