date and time settings do not allow to change

I open settings -> date and time settings and I see the Pacific time zone settings, the option to change is not available to me. Because of this problem, my MacOS clock is -10 hours from real time

Mac mini, macOS 15.3

Is your mac connected to wifi? Macs do not have GPS, they rely on information about nearby wifi networks to try and ascertain your location. Even if you use Ethernet, you need Wifi to be on to use location services.

Turn the automatic setting off and back on, any changes?

You can also turn it off, and set the location (nearest city) manually, then turn it back on. Does it stay in the correct location then?

Sorry, I did not mean to type "Reset" on the last question, it should just be turned on at that location, which should be the case, since you have it to Automatically set the times zone in the Date & Time Settings.

.

I suspect your Wifi connection is blocking access for Location Services to detect your Time Zone and may be due to a Firewall Setting on the router or from a Hot Spot connection. If that is the case, you may need to turn off "Set Time Zone automatically using your current location" in the screen shot you posted, then choose the closest city to you. It does not need to be your actual city, just one in the same Time Zone.

Thanks for your help!

However, I found a solution to the problem:

The fact that the time zone is not available for editing - this can be solved in the line below

You need to type the name of the city in the drop-down list on the keyboard - and then the time zone will start changing.

Otherwise, the drop-down list only gives cities in one zone.

(I was worried about the solution in detail, maybe someone will find it useful)

  • Do you have the toggle turned on to set the Time Zone Automatically? - YES
  • Are you using a VPN? - NO

Do you have Location Services allowing the Time Zone to Reset at  > System Settings > Privacy & Security > Locations Services > Details (System Services) > Setting Time Zone? - there is no reset option, there is an option to turn it on or off
