Facelock unlocked by picture in 15 Pro max.

No, it didn’t. Lock the phone with it facing away from you, then try unlocking with your picture without facing the iPhone. Better yet, give the phone and your picture to someone else and have them take it to a different room.

If the Tru-Depth camera can see your face it will unlock.

Nope. Face ID requires the True Depth camera. Perhaps you faced your iPhone screen at a photo, then you you aimed the phone at you to swipe up to get to your home page, which would have read your face through the True Depth camera.

I just tested it using a very clear photo of my face and nope, it won't unlock my iPhone.
