macbook wont connect to iphone 13 hotspot

ever since i got my macbook pro (2019 sequoia model), it won’t connect to my iphone 13 hotspot. i don’t know why, ive tried fixing this, ive tried using vpns, turning bluetooth on and off, (it wont even pair to my phone because apparently my macbook isnt a “supported model”), i really need my hotspot for school, and its getting infuriating dealing with this as ive tried for hours at a time and it just wont fix. i can connect to my friend’s hotspot, that works, but mine won’t. it’s connected, yet with no internet. could someone please help me
