Unable to save Microsoft Excel files after migrating to new MacBook Pro

i just get my new MacBook Pro and I already done migrating old MacBook Pro to my new unit but my previous Microsoft office excel now not able to save file. How do I activate my old Microsoft license in new MacBook

How to transfer MS Office license to new Mac w/o an account I just bought a new Macbook Air, and migrated everything over from my old Macbook Pro. The old comp has an MS Office 2016 perpetual license, and either I never created an account or I have no idea what the accompanying account info is. I tried logging in on the new comp but couldn't find a working account that recognized I had a license. I couldn't find anything about an account or login info in the apps on the old comp (e.g., there's no File > Account as I've seen noted in other forums on this topic). Installing Office Home and business 2016 to Macos 10.13.6 I purchased a key from a 3rd party website for office home and business 2016. I install the app. Click on Word app to which it request activation. I click on activate tab within Word app which then prompts me to enter my micorsoft email account associated with the license key. After entering email the screen goes blank. I reach out to Microsoft support and there answer was that they see the recent purchased and it is appearing on my Microsoft account and email, but it's not connecting because either cookies, caches needs to be clear out or the macos is too old to support. The specs on the website where I purchased office states that 10.13.6 and up does support it office 2016 for mac. Reaching out for help and guidance here before giving up and then send request for refund. I have a 2011 Macpro 17 inch running 10.13.6. Its old but still works, I use it for creative projects and work. Really would like to get it to work for Word and Powerpoint for presentations.

Reinstall Office 2011 on Macbook pro on osx 10.11 I have 2008 macbook pro with OSX 10.11.6 and Office 2011 on it. I had to do a clean reinstall of osx, and now I can't activate the reinstall action of office. Microsoft said "Drag the file com.microsoft.office.licensing.plist from the desktop and drag it into the Preferences folder. Enter your Mac password if prompted". When I tried that, I wasn't allowed to write to that folder. Can anyone help me out? I can't find a phone number to get a real person to help at Microsoft, so I hope the folks here can help. TIA.

I changed to my new Mac, and I chatted with a Microsoft Agent by opening Microsoft Virtual Agent. I provided them with my license key, and they gave me a new install. Their reason for the transfer is because it is a license that I own. You can see your license keys here: https://account.microsoft.com/services
