How do I fix the sticky cursor issue on macOS Sequoia?

On sequoia I can't just drop my mac files, folders or windows instantly around my desktop. The folder keeps moving with my cursor after I've let it go? I've tried messing about with the trackpad options in settings, including the advice to turn the 'force click and haptic feedback' option off, to no avail. Turned practically all the 'bells 'n whistles' off to revert to old-skool preferences and the problem persists. Any pointers..., please :( This is supoer annoying. I'm adding seconds to every split-second move??
