I cannot get Apple Maps to use toll roads. I do not have it set to avoid toll roads.

I would like to use toll roads that are available for the last portion of a drive to my son's home. The toll roads allow me to avoid heavy Interstate traffic through San Antonio, TX and North toward Austin. The cost of the toll roads is minimal compared to the otherwise tense drive through the congestion. However, Apple Maps will not use the toll roads, even when "avoid toll roads" is NOT selected. I tried taking the suggested Apple Maps route and modifying it myself by "dragging the route" or inserting interim stops to guide it to where the toll road starts, but Apple Maps does not like that and it winds up making all sorts of wrong connects between roads and I finally have to give up. Most people recommend that I use Google Maps for this, but I'd rather not as I really like the Apple Maps coordination with my Apple Watch as it gives me haptic alerts when a turn is coming up allowing me to concentrate on the road and traffic. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks.
