Replacing iPad Air 3rd gen with new iPad

So I’ve had this iPad Air 3rd generation for 6 years now, it is the Wi-Fi gold model, 64GB.It has been bent from overheating over the years. It can only charge if I twist the charger a bit.The total repair cost was around $370 when I took it in to the Apple Store because it is out of warranty. The new iPad starts at $350, but is not the same value as my iPad Air when I first bought it, ~$500.Should I buy a new one or repair. My budget for a new one is ~$400 plus whatever I can get for this one.It is still fully functional(except for charging), only small scratches, and it’s engraved.I need to know if I can I get money for it? and also should I buy a new one.i also need help finding which one to buy next with a budget, but also wanting good features.I don’t care about camera quality.

You can get an estimate for the valuer of your current iPad at the following website. click here ➜ Apple Trade In - Apple

For a new one, you can compare the iPads at https://www.apple.com/ipad/compare/?modelList=ipad-11th-a16,ipad-air-11-m3,ipad-pro-11-m4

If you are in the US, you can get some decent deals on refurbished models on Apple's refurbished store.

A 5th Generation iPad Air is going for $499 currently.

click here ➜ Refurbished iPad Air Wi-Fi 256GB - Space Gray (5th Generation) - Apple

If you don't need the fastest CPU, Apple Intelligence or the cameras, then the current entry level iPad is not a bad choice and will one overall better than your current iPad Air.

Apple won't offer a trade-in for a damaged device - and repair costs for your damaged iPad will significantly exceed any potential trade-in value.

Given your description, you should anticipate your iPad having no monetary value whatsoever.

You can verify eligibility for trade-in and obtain an estimate of any potential trade-in value here:

Apple Trade In - Apple

You can attempt trade-in at a physical Apple Store - many choosing this option by preference as the device can be checked, the trade-in value finalised and the process completed while in-store - removing any doubt as to its value.

Why didn't you ask these question while at the Apple store?

We are just users here no Apple, nobody can tell you what value your old ipad has.
