iPhone 15 pro max lags when recording in 4k while screen mirroring

when I am mirroring my iPhone 15 pro max to my tv, if I try to record 4k on the phone it starts lagging instantly and not because of a connection issue, with 1080p 60 fps it works fine. 4k is fine until you press record.

I have seen other people having the same issue with iphone 13- 14 ect,,,, with no answer from apple.

Is this a hardware issue that has no fix?

I don't want to spend days trying to find a solution if there is no solution to the iphone not being capable of doing this. I have had zero issue with my samsung s23 mirroring in 4k 60, so I never thought for a split second a iphone would, but here we are!

Well, you got me thinking. You said you checked a bunch of places and couldn’t be done, and I was the only person that’s ever seen it.

I thought maybe it was 1080 I saw or something. So, I dusted off the 16 PM, turned it to 4K 60, turned off HDR and turned on HEIF. Next, initiated Screen Sharing to my 4K Apple TV. Image popped right up. What the heck, let’s hit record and it worked flawlessly. I recorded 45 seconds and got bored and stopped. Here’s the link,

It’s private but nothing personal. Just my living room at the beach in Florida. If my wife saw it she’d kill me.

Well I think we are on to something here, your using a Iphone 16 pro max and it works perfect correct, fast hand wavig ect..? I am on a iphone 15 pro max and the other threads with people complaining are using 14 or 15 . I would upgrade to a 16 if I can get confirmation from another 16 user, maybe a hardware issue on the 15 apple solved on the 16?

On another note, the 15 works perfectly in 4k 24 fps when recording, but 30 or 60 is a no go.

Also, do you happen to have another non apple tv you can try and duplicate this on?

Could be a number of issues. The TV could be a bottleneck. I’ve seen it done using HDMI out of iPhone to HDMI in on TV and works flawlessly. Is an Apple TV in the mix or are you going straight to TV?

Screen mirror to a tv and using the tv as a monitor to watch while recording video around the house. works fine in 1080p 30, 60,120 fps with no lag while recording. 4k at any frame rate does not work at all, choppy blur once you click record, its fine until you click record. There are quite a few posts on the forum about this and no answers.

It's a 4k recording issue exclusively.

Roku, smart tv zero issues connecting

Need to done without cables. I have checked many message boards, reddit ect... everyone has this problem, your the first person who said they seen it work.

Tried with every mirroring app known to man, iPad, mac, pc, same issue and everyone in the comments for those apps say the same thing, everything work fine in 1080, but soon as you try 4k its over. So I figured mirror straight to compatible smart tv would solve the problem, but it does not.

Zero issues using samsung galaxy in 4k.

What exactly are you trying to do? One sort of sentence you’re mirroring your iPhone to your TV. Then mention recording. Recording is the opposite of mirroring. Please explain in an accurate matter what you are doing. But mirroring and recoding are the opposite of each other.
