Not Receiving Mobile Notifications for Authorization/Approval

I just upgraded from an iPhone 12 to the iPhone 16. Both phones have/had all the latest software updates. The previous phone's SIM card is in the new phone, and the old one's been erased and reset.

I no longer receive mobile notifications for authorizations or approvals that need to be verified in the providers' app. For example, when I make an online purchase, the credit card may require confirmation of the payment in my banking app. The phone then receives a notification, and tapping on it opens the corrosponding app's confirmation page.

I believe my phone is properly set to receive notifications (they are the same as my previous phone), and Do Not Disturb is OFF.

Something happened to the rest of my message to you. This is from Apples own support document on extra verification.

It’s got nothing to do with SIM. The bank uses its own records.

”Adding additional verification

A card issuer can decide whether a credit or debit card requires additional verification. Depending on what’s offered by the card issuer, the user may be able to choose between different options for additional verification, such as a text message, email, customer service call or a method in an approved third-party app to complete the verification. For text messages or email, the user selects from contact information the issuer has on file.”

“A code is sent, which must be entered into Apple Wallet, Settings or the Apple Watch

app. For customer service or verification using an app, the issuer performs their own communication process.”

In order to verify a credit card, transaction, access to financial app etc. the bank uses the information, such as phone number to text. Banks do not use information off the phone for verification. Why? If the iPhone were stolen by hackers, the bank wants to verify it’s actually you.

You may have updated the bank months or even years ago when you changed your number. Please call the support team at the bank and request you current phone number be designated as the primary number for contacting you. The update will be virtually instantaneous and you can receive you verification codes.
