How do I use golf GPS apps on Apple Watch Series 3 after iOS 18 update?

I have not used my golf gps app for a year due to back problems. This app is on my phone and always paired nicely with my series3 watch. Now the app, and all other similar apps, say apple drooped series3 support and you need series 4 or later. The app still works on my phone, but no longer shows as available on my watch.
