Fixed the translucent grey border that seemed to randomly appear.

I was annoyed with the translucent gray border that randomly surrounded my screen. In searching for a solution, I encountered an Apple Community discussion from 2013, in which the issue was related to a trackpad setting.

That wasn’t the issue on my Mini Pro M4 running the latest version of Sequoia. The grey translucent rectangle was caused by a Desktop & Dock setting titled “Click wallpaper to reveal desktop.”  That option was set to “Always.” When I changed the setting to “Only in Stage Manager,” the grey translucent border on my screen stopped appearing.

I’m sharing this because I didn’t intuitively connect the “Click wallpaper to reveal desktop” option with making a translucent gray border appear on the screen. Hopefully, when other users search for “translucent gray border,” they will find this post helpful.

leroydouglas, thanks for the additional suggestions! I've already modified some of the settings in the clusters you circled in your screenshot.

As someone who purchased my first Mac –– the ORIGINAL Mac –– in April 1984, I'm striving to regain my proactive approach in sharing solutions with other Mac users on the Community forum. With each new iteration, the Mac OS becomes increasingly complex, featuring more settings that are sometimes so vaguely labeled that it's not always clear what a setting modifies or how it may indirectly affect other settings.

Again, thanks for your feedback.

Good computing Martin's Macs !

Could not agree more about the complexity of the OS with bells & whistles always innovating— but not always wanted...

It would be great to see you participating in the communities. The "proactive approach" It is a great way to learn and attempts to keep up with the ever changing technology.

cheers
