Deleting someone from group text

I have a Xs iPhone with a text group of 17 people. Not all on the group are iPhones so I can’t delete them using the swipe left feature. If I remove the person from my contacts will it stop them from getting the group text?

Hello!

No, that won’t work. The only way to remove them is to create a new group, and exclude them from it.
