Calendar events alerts not working

I want to try to help people having a problem with calendar alerts. I had to go into Calendar to a specific event. At the bottom there’s a menu for Calendar and Alert. When I Selected Calendar on the menu and Under Alert, selected the time I want the alarm to sound, it allowed the alarm to come through. I put this as a question because it would not let me respond to a slew of people having this same issue. I hope this information is helpful to someone.
