How can I mark a stolen MacBook as lost without 'Find My' activated?

Hey so I had my1600$ MacBook on my backpack; so I had accidentally set down my backpack at a gas stations, then a lady had came and talked to me so I had forgot completely about my backpack with my MacBook in it; once I left I realized it so then I returned and it was missing

I filed a police report on it and gave them the serial number to it; they gave me details on the guy who stolen it;

So I had never activated “find my” on my MacBook so it doesn't register on my decvies for search me but does for my profile list of devices.

I was trying to see if y'all were able to mark it as lost so the perpetrator wouldn't be able to use it anymore

Hello braylen163,

Unfortunately, you've already done almost everything you can since the Mac wasn't previously connected to your Apple Account. Here are the remaining steps (minus #3):

If your Mac is lost or stolen - Apple Support

I'm sorry I can't help you more. At this point the best thing to do is secure your accounts. We had several laptops stolen in San Francisco a couple years ago and never recovered them, even though they were connected to Find My (at least we could erase the data).

Unless the thief is able to hack your account password (hopefully it was a strong one), there's no way to access the data on your Mac and the only way to use it is by factory resetting the device. So, no data collection hopefully.

On the bright side, if you turned on FileVault earlier, all of your data is encrypted and locked with your password.

Let me know if there's anything else I can help you with.

Have a nice day.
