I just recently used preview to edit my tax document for my tax preparer. The document was locked with a 5 digit code that I never changed. I edited in preview and saved it. Now my Document won't open with the original password. It seems that preview set a new password on it's own and I can't figure out what it is to reset or disable it. Help!?

It is a known bug with Preview, especially for fillable forms taking the creator's restrictions & passing it onto the whole PDF file instead of just the non-form areas. You will need to get another copy of that PDF and use a third party PDF editor to make any changes to it. If you let Preview touch it, then it will become locked once more.

processed or edited originally with what application...(?) or this was originally an on-line interface— it is unclear from your post.
Try a different PDF editor/viewer...and compare your results
there are many, a few examples:

Wondershare PDFelement
