I just broke my phone and have no money to replace the screen. Im tryna figure out this one year warranty thing since ive only had my phone for 6months. Does the hardware warenty mean i can get a free screen repair? I need help

The standard one year warranty covers manufacture’s defects in materials and workmanship. How did the screen break? Did you purchase the optional Apple Care + protection that covers accidents and other issues not covered by the standard warranty?
