How to NOT Capture the Mouse Pointer When Recording the Screen

When I do a screen recording (command-Shift-5), the mouse pointer is captured even though I have the Show Mouse Clicks option NOT selected. How can I do a screen recording that captures system audio but NOT the cursor?
