Macbook Pro M3 Max not supporting MSI MPG 274URF QD 160Hz refresh rate

Currently Display settings show up to 144Hz by using HDMI or USB-C.

I tried the Following:

  • HDMI 2.1 cable
  • USB 3.2 cable

Based on the specs of my M3 Max it has the support for one display with up to 8K resolution at 60Hz or 4K resolution at 240Hz.

Based on the specs of my MPG it has the suppor for UHD (3840x2160) @160Hz by using HDMI, DP, or USB-C.

Any suggestions? Thank you.

that MPG 274URF QD

appears to be a 4K display WITH HDR 10 bits/color

1 x DisplayPort (1.4a)

2 x HDMI TM (2.1)

1 x Type-C (DP alt.) w/ PD 65W

at 4K resolution HDMI has slightly more Bandwidth, PROVIDED you are using an ULTRA HDMI cable and NO adapters.

About your HDMI cable: It should have tags proclaiming it is Certifed and the word ULTRA prominently displayed, else it can not run fast enough.

Cables "shipped in the box" are often "lowest bidder" cables -- just good enough for you to get a picture and that's all.
