iPad disconnects from MacBook Pro when connected by USB-C cable.

I have my iPad connected to my MacBook Pro using a USB-C cable. They connect fine and I can move my mouse and use my keyboard without issue. However after a few minutes the iPad will disconnect and I have to go back into Settings/Displays/Add iPad to connect it again.

I have tried restarting, updating the OS, turned off display lock on the iPad, switched out the cable, but it still keeps happening.

Is there anything else I can try?

Plug into a wall powered USB hub that supports USB-C.

Turn off "put hard drive to sleep" settings in Energy Saver.

Do not attempt to connect the iPad while in clamshell mode (closing the screen lid of the laptop).

Restart the computer after waking from sleep, but before hooking up to USB.

Make sure the laptop is plugged into power with the correct wattage adapter for the laptop model.

Bring to a service center to make sure no lint has gotten in the charging port of the iPad or USB port of the computer. Service centers have tools to ensure those ports aren't filled with dust and lint, which can easily happen.

If that still fails, replace the cable with a new one.
