Why is the 'Duplicate' button missing for duplicate contacts on iPhone and iPad?

has anyone found a fix to the duplicate contacts in “Contacts”? The “Duplicate” button/option is not showing on my iPhone or iPad.

I mean the *exact* same contact. When I go to my contacts app and look for duplicates it only recognized five. However every contact I have is at least duplicate.
