Sorry, my response was for the German Forum.

iCloud Photos will be syncing the keywords to iCloud and from there to the mobile devices as well. But the Mobile Devices do not show them, because Photos iOS does not support keywords. We may see search results based on keywords. But that will depend on the system version.

While I have been using iOS17 and iPadOS 17 any search in Photos for a keyword would show my all photos with this keyword in a separate section "Keywords". Now on iOS 18 there is no longer a separate search category "Keywords". The keyword results are included with the text results.

The third-party app HashPhoto can help with this. Hash Photo will show you the keywords assigned to a photo.

Like léonie said, the keywords are included in the Photos Library database, and they are transferred with pictures if you use iCloud to sync your devices. Other methods may not transfer all the database information, so you might have to do a trial run to see exactly what happens. You could include some unlikely combo of letters as a test keyword and see if iOS responds to a search for that.

When you export a picture using "File>Export>Export nn Photos," you are given the option of including the keywords and other metadata.

No-- Export is for creating picture files like jigs. The Photos Library has the information to create pictures. You can use Export to create a picture file on a Mac and then send that to an iPhone-- it could have standard metadata, but it would be lacking in potential-- like the ability to revert to the original. Again., that's why we use iCloud syncing-- full information is transferred.
