The huge size of scanned documents in the Notes app

Previously, I used the Notes application and the files were much smaller, it was convenient. Now they have begun to weigh ten times more, so when scanning a large number of pages, the process of transmission and work slowed down greatly. Make it possible to scan in low quality so that files take up less space. Thank you!

To reduce the size of scanned documents in the Notes app, scan in black and white or grayscale, lower the resolution (DPI), and choose efficient formats like PDF or JPEG.

Here's a more detailed explanation:

  • Scan Type:
  • Scanning in black and white or grayscale will significantly reduce file size compared to color scans.
  • Resolution (DPI):
  • Lowering the resolution (DPI) to 150-200 for text documents is often sufficient, while higher resolutions are needed for photos or images.
  • File Format:
  • Choose PDF or JPEG for better compression and smaller file sizes.
  • Other Tips:
    • Use a Scanner App: Consider using dedicated scanner apps like Google Drive's scan feature or other apps that offer more control over scan settings.
    • Compress PDFs: If the file size is still too large, you can use online tools or apps to compress PDF files.
    • Check for Updates: Make sure your iOS is up to date, as Apple may have released fixes or improvements for document scanning
